The Map functionality within the Hub module provides an interactive, browser-based mapping application. It offers visual visibility of contractor coverage boundaries across UK postcode areas, Northern Ireland counties, and Republic of Ireland counties, alongside physical site locations. This tool allows users to quickly identify which suppliers are assigned to specific geographical regions based on their service categories.

Navigation

To access the Map feature, navigate to Main Menu > Hub > Map on the left-hand sidebar navigation. The Map option is positioned directly below Documentation and above Projects.

Note: This menu option is only visible to users who have been granted the specific permission: Can View Hub - Map.

Filter Selections & Data Loading

The interface features a split-panel layout consisting of a top filtering framework, a left-hand sidebar workspace, and the main interactive map canvas.

To load contractor data onto the map:

Navigate to the top filter dropdowns.

Select the required SRA Group (Service Category) and Tier parameters from the cascading dropdown menus.

The system will dynamically query the database and colour-code the map zones (choropleth map) according to the active contractor assignments for that category.

Note: Regions that do not have an active contractor assigned to them will default to a solid grey background.

Using the Interactive Map & Sidebar

Once the data loads, you can interact with the map and sidebar to analyse coverage details:

Map Interactions & Hover States

Standard Postcode Regions: Hovering your mouse cursor over any standard postcode area instantly highlights the region. A floating contextual tooltip box will display the active area identifier code and the assigned contractor's name.

Complex Geographic Enclaves: For complex coastal boundaries, small islands (such as the Isle of Wight, Guernsey, Jersey, or the Isle of Man), and Irish counties, descriptive information and hover tooltips are pinned to fixed central coordinates to ensure readability.

Sidebar Features

The sidebar is locked to the left side of the screen and provides the following tools:

Rolling Statistics: Displays live numerical statistics based on your active filters.

Vendor Legend: An interactive list showing assigned contractors. Clicking a vendor within the legend allows you to filter the map view specifically to their coverage areas.

In-line Text Filter: Allows you to quickly search for specific postcodes or suppliers.

Assignment Ledger Table: A scrollable table at the bottom of the sidebar displaying raw postcode-to-contractor data for the selected category.

Overlaying Physical Sites

You can view your physical estate layout directly on top of the contractor coverage map.

Click the <Show Sites> button overlay.

The system will load valid site locations from the database and plot them onto the map as red circular markers.

Hover your mouse over any Physical Site Marker to view a dark-themed tooltip containing the unique Building Number, Building Name, and Building Category on individual rows.

Toggle the <Show Sites> button again to hide the markers. Subsequent toggles will show or hide the markers instantly from the local system cache without executing a new network request.

Exporting & Printing the Map

To generate a physical or digital copy of the current map view:

Click the <Print/Export> control button.

The system will automatically resize and frame the viewport to standard UK and Ireland geographic boundaries.

Following a brief rendering pause, the system invokes your local browser print layout manager using an optimised template that isolates the map canvas, automatically hides the navigation sidebar, and scales the boundaries cleanly to fit an A4 layout.
