System Configuration Mobile Engineer Workflow

The Asbestos Warning feature provides critical safety visibility for engineers working on-site. When a contractor or mobile engineer logs into a Work Order via their mobile device to start the Work Order, the system can automatically display an amber alert warning them of the presence of asbestos at the property.

To prevent warning fatigue, this alert can be configured universally across all asset categories or selectively applied only to specific types of work where disturbance is possible.

System Configuration

System administrators can control which categories trigger the alert by navigating to Core Data > Equipment & Services > Equipment/Service Types.

Locate and select the Equipment or Service Type you wish to modify from the list, and click Edit.

Locate the configuration tick box labelled "Show Asbestos Warning?".

Adjust the setting as required:

Equipment Types: By default, this is turned On (ticked) for all equipment types, ensuring comprehensive coverage across your physical equipment estate.

Service Types: By default, this is turned Off (unticked) for service-based jobs (such as landscaping or window cleaning). To enable it for specific services where a risk exists (such as pest control or minor fabric works), simply check the tick box.

Click <Save> to commit the changes.

Mobile Engineer Workflow

When an engineer uses the mobile app to start a Work Order, the system evaluates the target site and Work Order type in real time:

Trigger Condition: The asbestos warning pop-up message will display on the mobile device if, and only if, the site has a recorded asbestos history AND the specific Equipment or Service Type assigned to that Work Order has the "Show Asbestos Warning?" option enabled.

Universal Visibility: The requirement for mobile users to hold specific, individual asbestos view permissions has been removed. The warning is now driven entirely by the site's data and the Work Order Equipment/Service Type, ensuring any engineer assigned to a potentially hazardous job is universally notified before work begins.
